A GOOD EARLY SOCKET BAYONET BY OSBORN FOR THE BROWN BESS, circa 1800, with 17 in. triangular blade fullered on the two reverse sides, ricasso with crown over '24' inspection mark, early 'Osborn' stamping and 'X', elbow stamped '1755', smoothed pitting with some staining, Osborn worked in Birmingham from 1797 to 1807 before entering into partnership with Gunby
